The Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR) is an initiative of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). The AOANJRR was established in 1999 becoming fully national in mid 2002. The purpose of the AOANJRR is to improve and maintain the quality of care for individuals receiving joint replacement surgery. Information on hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle and spinal disc replacement is collected from all hospitals in Australia undertaking joint replacement surgery.

The AOANJRR is entirely funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health.

2013 Annual & Supplementary Reports

The 2013 Annual Report on Hip and Knee Arthroplasty publishes findings on almost 800,000 procedures undertaken between 1 September 1999 and 31 December 2012.    
In addition to the 11 supplementary reports published last year, four new supplementary reports are available:
  • Revision of Hip and Knee Arthroplasty
  • Metal on Metal Bearing Surface in Total Conventional Hip Arthroplasty
  • Metal and Ceramic Bearing Surface in Total Conventional Hip Arthroplasty
  • Unispacer Knee Arthroplasty
Also included is the Lay Summary report which provides a clear, concise and easily understood explanation of the findings published in the annual report.
All reports are publicly available by selecting the Publications tab.
